Is the Weiman Jewelry Cleaner Worth the Hype? A Comprehensive Review.
My husband, C, and I take our rings in to the jewelry store where we bought them to get cleaned every so often. However, it is about a forty-five minute drive from where we live and we don't seem to make it over there very often. I recently found the Weiman fine jewelry cleaner on Amazon so I decided to order some. It is a plastic container of cleaning solution that comes with a soaking basking and a little scrub brush. To use it, I just had to plop our rings into the container to soak for up to thirty minutes. I ended up doing about twenty-five. It says to swish them around but there didn't seem to be an easy way to do that. I tried swishing them with the basket to the best of my ability. Then when they are done, I just pulled it up by the center of the soaking basket and took the rings out. I scrubbed the diamonds with the little brush and then dried them with a soft washcloth.
Likes and Dislikes
I really liked the convenience of being able to soak the rings at my own house. I can see myself cleaning our rings more frequently and especially for special occasions. It was very easy to use which means I will be more likely to use it more often. The price was not too bad as it was $8.30, so with tax it still came out to less than $9. While the rings did seem to be a little bit cleaner, it did not seem to make an obvious difference. I had taken C's ring off when he was taking a nap on the couch and soaked it. I returned it to his finger before he woke up. When I asked him if his ring looked sparklier, he didn't notice any change (above are the before and after pictures). Something else that I would change would be to have the handle of the basket extend above the cleaning solution so that I don't have to stick my fingers in to pull it out.
Conclusion
Overall, I do like the product. It didn't leave our rings looking as noticeably sparkly as I had hoped but it did make enough of a difference to know that it worked. I think I will continue to use it on our rings about once a week to keep them nice and clean. It wasn't a bad product, especially for the price.
