Can You Transform Your Health with the 10-Day Whole Foods Challenge? Here's How It's Done

Eating whole foods can contribute to preventing chronic diseases, losing weight, and strengthening the immune system. Whole foods are foods that are still in their natural form, without anything added or taken away. In other words: foods that are not processed. To work towards incorporating more whole foods into my diet, I decided to challenge myself to eating mostly whole foods for ten consecutive days. Specifically, I added as many whole foods into my diet as I could and avoided as many processed foods as possible.

My Experience

Overall, I did pretty well with sticking to whole foods. The only times I ate foods that weren't whole was when I went out to eat with family and when my husband, C, made me something to eat. In the few times that I did eat out, I still tried to stick with foods that were as close to whole foods as possible. I found that I felt really good and didn't eat the unnecessary parts of meals that didn't contribute much nutrition, like tortillas and buns. As a result, not only did the food help me feel good, but I felt good about what I was eating because I knew it was all contributing to nourishing my body. I intentionally did not challenge myself to eating only whole foods as I didn't want to strive for perfection, but more so allow myself the freedom to have some flexibility. Because I was sticking to eating for nourishment and not purely for the sake of having three meals a day, I felt more full on less. Eventually, junky foods honestly didn't even sound appetizing. I enjoy eating primarily whole foods and wouldn't mind sticking to a diet with more whole foods incorporated.
