A Progress Update on my Reading Goals
In a couple of my past posts, I mentioned some reading goals that I was going to start working on. For a while I had been making excuses to myself that I did not have very much time to read books because I had text books to read and homework to do. While that may have had a lot of truth to it, I have since learned to find a little bit of time each day so that I can further my knowledge and have time to do something that I enjoy doing on my own. Below is a progress update on my reading goals.
Reading 30 Books Before I Turn 30
About a year ago, I made it a goal to read thirty books before I turn thirty years old. In just three days, I will turn twenty-eight years old, which means that I will have two years left to reach my goal. Since I set the goal, I have read twenty-nine books and am almost done with the thirtieth book. Five of the books have been novels and twenty-five of them will have been psychology-related. I will admit, when I set this goal, I was just hopeful that I would get the thirty books done by time I turn thirty, being that I still had text books to read for two and a half of the years. I am pretty impressed with myself for almost having completed all thirty within a year.
My Reading List for the Year
Near the end of last year, I created a list of seventeen specific books that I wanted to read this year. From this list, I have read thirteen of them and am almost done with the fourteenth book. All of the books on the list were psychology-related and the topics ranged from relationships to anxiety to depression and everything in between. The book I am currently reading is about borderline personality disorder. I have learned so much from all the books I have read so far and think that it has really been helpful in adding to what I have been learning in school. I look forward to reading the last three books.
