3 Fun Ways to Celebrate National French Toast Day
Sometimes it's fun to do something different and make a big deal out of something that I normally wouldn't think to. One way I plan to do that is by celebrating National French Toast Day this year. National French Toast Day is actually the same day as Thanksgiving and I am running a half marathon that morning so I will more so likely celebrate it the day before. I just thought it sounded fun to get up in the morning and make it special for my son, A, by making a yummy breakfast together and teaching him about something new. Below are ways that I plan to get involved in National French Toast Day.
Make French Toast at Home
We don't have French toast very often so it is like a fun, special breakfast when we do. I may even try a different kind of French toast recipe than usual to make it more fun. Honestly, French toast sounded so good and my husband, C, had already been asking about having French toast yesterday that I decided to make some this morning. I made banana French toast and it was pretty good but could probably use some more cinnamon.
Learn the History
I know absolutely nothing about the history of French toast or if there is a special reason why it has the day it does, but I think it will be fun to learn a little bit more about it and teach A about something new. For example, I don't know how long it has been around, if it was first meant to be a dessert, or if it even actually originated in France. I'm waiting until National French Toast Day to find out.
Buy Fresh Fruit and use it to top Your French Toast
In my opinion, everything is better with some fresh fruit, especially treats. To me, sweet breakfasts are considered a treat so it fits in that category. I may get some more raspberries and strawberries, who knows. I very likely, in the least, will get some bananas to top my French toast. In that case, I might also add peanut butter and honey to top it. Or I might try a few different topping combinations, all of which will include fresh fruit.
